"I have always been interested in generating power. I have had a stream of good natured people telling me not to do it, it can't be done, too expensive, need deep cell batteries etc,etc.
Then one day reading an article three words changed everything. GRID TIE INVERTER, brand new technology. NO, old technology tried and proved overseas, just new to New Zealand. I'm in I said to my wife. Her response was, you have always wanted to do this just do it.
After tracking down Powersmart solar and confirming no batteries required, you can still run stoves, freezers, spa pools, and all sorts of power hungry equipment, we planned the next stage. All I needed to know was how much and when can you install?
Everything else was up to Powersmart and that is exactly as it was. Powersmart were experts in their field. They were informative, knowledgable  ,positive and experienced. 
Powersmart  initially installed a 3 kw system with limited supervision from me still asking many quetions and once again Powresmart were so helpful. My family were at some points not amused by my turning things on and off and generally wanting to kinow how much power every item in the house used. This was a great male project.
Our house usage dropped from 50 kw per day to aprox 38 kw per day. The 3 kw system only makes 3 kw per hour in peak hours of sunlight, I decided more power was needed. Family chose holiday option but after some discussion about the future, global warming, carbon taxes etc a yes was obtained. A 10 kw system was installed and we are now generating 50 plus kw per day and are about power neutral. This is a very good investment.
We have a 12 acre block of land with 2 north facing paddocks. After running out of grass, pugged up paddocks, chasing stock, fixing fences and working full time I thought why am I farming animals?
Why have I chosen solar instead of wind turbines? Two words MOVING PARTS = maintenance. I have no moving parts.
I have spoken to a few people, companies asking about changing some of my farm to a solar farm and have had varying and some baffling answers. My two north facing paddocks would be 2x  140 kw systems. Every KW produced keeps water in the dams for the power companies to use in the summer. I have been amazed at the negativity of people who I thought would be encouraging me to spend more of my money ( and maybe a government grant or at least power company money to help with future stages) . Once agin I contacted Powersmart solar and they are picking up the batton in the hope of helping me farm these human friendly animals called solar panels."

"Last week we were happy to get our solar installation performed by Dean and it was a success.  With JLM good and helpful coordination, we could pick up the shipment in due time. On the 15th. Nov. all the equipment – in original packing – were at the house site and Dean could easily make a check up on all the parts.  We do believe that Dean valued our preparation and organization.  Weather conditions all along the installation were not favorable but still gentle so that every job could be performed without delay.
